2011 scrapbook drawer…

ippity challenged us to make a new years project—so I made a “scrapbook” using a 7 gypsies library drawer to hold this years pictures, birthday reminders--, anything special that comes along throughout the year ahead. 

it comes with chipboard dividers, which I covered with kraft.  each tab has a month stamped on it using unity stamps.  there is an ippity stamp stamped into the lower right hand corner of each divider. 

the january tab is stamped with an ippity snowflake, and  has pink paislee hounds tooth numbers.  I got  the burlap string and jillibean button from limelight papercrafts.                                                                                                                         

on the back of each monthly tab, I attached the journaling cards that come with the drawer.

ippity hop easel…

hi everyone, –hope your weekend was a great one! time to hop with ippity, and the master list is here.

I really like lisa’s calendar easel, so I went with it. these are so easy and fun to do, and timely with 2011 right around the corner.

I printed my watercan –(from last summer) onto a transparency and cut it out with a spellbinder die. the clothes pin holds the pic in place and makes it easy to change it out.

I stamped the ippity stamp “life” in white ink onto the transparency and it dried with a leathery texture look to it. the letters look shaded on the edges, too.

recipe card holder…

here is a wooden recipe holder, using the same basic frame I used here.  it has a metal sign that I attached with tacks.   the sign was on clearance because of damage to the lower left corner, which I covered with the seam binding.

here’s a close up of the metal sign.

and here it is with a recipe card I made in photoshop elements.  the cute magnet came with the sign.  this is a great gift idea:)

I decided to make a place card holder.  i used a  2” block, and drilled a small hole into the top (for the wire).  then, i painted it cream and covered it with basic grey paper to (match my other xmas decorations). 

the hounds tooth paper is from making memories, and laurel is the current guest designer—check it out!   the sticker letters are cosmo cricket, the ribbon is maya road, and the burlap string is may arts.

this is my december daily day 9 pages.  I used several ippity stamps on these pages and the photo tray below.

all things unity 21-anything but a card christmas…

this time, we want you to make anything but a card for christmas! bags, tags, candles, food gifts, pic frames, banners, albums, --anything but a card --christmas themed.!
first, I apologize for the pic qualty-its so gloomy here today.
I closely followed a tutorial to make these wooden pic frames. these are super easy and super cheap xmas gifts!—around $5.00 each!
here are mine finished…

and here it is with a pic, that I stamped ippity's “peace” in the corner, and I used a unity text stamp for the background mat. I added a piece of basic grey jovial paper, too. with the clip, you can change out the picture quick and easy. you could also, paint the frame black…,
or add a burlap mat, (which I’ve done on another frame, that I’ll show another day).
or add a cork mat and use tacks to hold the pic…
or a metal mat, and use magnets to hold the pic, recipe card, grocery list, whatever.
so try something new or old and link it up here by midnight 12-25, using either ippity or unity stamps only, please! check out the others' projects for today!

ippity hop…

I stamped ippity’s tree onto some mme paper, and used a hounds tooth chipboard for the trunk.  the kraft paper is stamped with maria’s gingham stamp and the sentiment is also, ippity.

ihhc52-cake occasions…

ippity’s  challenge was to find an inspiration from “cake occasions”.  lots of yummy stuff-check it out!

this is the cake I used for my card-going mostly with the colors of the cake.  there is an ippity background stamp and two sentiment stamps on my card.  my silhouette cut out the cake.   thanks all for now, and thanks for coming by:)

paper bag pocket…

when I first moved to the indy area, I met a “close to my heart” consultant, antoinette herrin, whom has become my wonderfully, creative friend.  she recently launched her own stamp company-inspired stamps.  she was sweet enough to send me 3 stamp sets to play with.   

I’ve been wanting to try this paper bag pocket project, which was inspired by michelle wooderson’s charming blog.  if you’ve never seen her blog, treat yourself today:)  all you have to do to make this pocket, is to fold a paper bag in half and sew or staple the sides.  in the front pocket, you could add photos, a card, money or gift card.  the back pocket is perfect for treats, an ornament or a small gift.

here’s a close-up of the inspired stamps that I used on the cute tag-(cut with my silhouette).   the star, tree, and sentiment fit perfectly together and the twine anchors it all.   be sure to see the whole line of stamps here. 

here’s a peek of one of the sets, I used today!  all of these sentiments fit into the 1” circles-VERY useful set!  and thanks so much for looking:)

fwf friday…

each week unity has a blog filled with great designers.  you can find the master list here. 

i used square envelopes to make this little banner for my fireplace.  first, the flap was cut off, and a circle punch was used to make the cut at the top of the envelope.  i used a unity text stamp on the front, and inked the edges. 

my big shot die cut the cardboard shapes that hold the hounds tooth chipboard letters.  i stapled the back of the envelopes to checked ribbon. and, an insert was cut from the plaid paper.

here are my 25 foundation pages for my journal, --its done:) I’ve only gotten the dec 1st page done. I’ll slowly add the finished pages as the month goes along.
